The Cook County Board of Commissioners has adopted a budget amendment at the request of the Cook County Board of Review to create a new PTAB division at the Board. The amendment provides $546,465 in funding mainly for the creation of 5 new positions. (The Board initially requested $1,039,186 and 12 new positions to create the division. Their plan is to add more positions through increased revenue generated by the division in the future).

The division’s goal is to stop the filing of “frivolous” PTAB cases and to provide better evidence on behalf of the Board of Review at PTAB focusing mainly on commercial and industrial properties, and to provide educational outreach to taxing bodies and the legislature. The Board’s objective is to improve their loss of revenue at PTAB by 30-40% within the next four years.
